about the tim carpenter institute

The Tim Carpenter Institute

The Tim Carpenter Institute (TCI) is a non-profit Educational Foundation, registered in the State of California and with the Internal Revenue Service of the United States of America.  TCI is dedicated to studying the distribution of economic and political power in society, and strategies for building more equitable and democratic societies. The Carpenter Institute is committed to making all of its findings available, and understandable, to the broad public.

In particular, the Tim Carpenter Institute was set up for the purposes of studying left-progressive movements, and left-progressive policy proposals, in the domestic United States (at the national, state, and local levels) as well as internationally.  Though it will pursue other related projects as well.

We will be investigating progressive movements, matters of relevance to those movements, policies proposed by those movements (or factions of those movements), and, where applicable, how those policies have performed when implemented.

A distinct subset of our work will involve collecting already-existing studies and articles that address these subjects, which will then be combined with our original analysis. Then, we will present our findings in a manner easily understood by the general public, as we feel such studies and a coherent summary of such work has remained obscure to the general public.  TCI will demystify this essential body of information for the maintenance of a democratic society.

The Tim Carpenter Institute is named after the founding Executive Director of Progressive Democrats of America.
